Episode 12: Mike Goodman
Bub & Pop | Episode 12: Mike Goodman (recorded May 16, 2026) Mike Goodman is the bassist and one of the voices of Eggy, the Connecticut-based four-piece who’ve turned jazz training and a deep love of the Grateful Dead and Phish into one of the most exciting improvising bands

On its face this is a conversation about music – Eggy's rise, the jazz-meets-jam thing, the surreal Trey Anastasio "courtesy code" story about King Gizzard's "Interior People" – but it's really about resilience, friendship, and the courage to ask for help.

Mike was incredibly open with us about the hardest stretch of his life – namely, his recovery and sobriety – and I'm grateful he trusted the show with it. Fittingly, we recorded it at the Divided Sky Foundation's Music on the Mountain, a festival celebrating recovery. Producer Tedd and I were floored by Mike's transparency and hope others find the discussion as insightful and inspiring as we did.
