Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-30
This privacy policy describes how Bub & Pop ("we," "us," "our") handles information in connection with bubandpop.com, The Bub & Pop Podcast, and any tools or scripts we operate to publish content to third-party platforms. Our address for privacy questions is meh@bubandpop.com.
The short version: we publish a podcast, we run a website, and we use APIs from social-media platforms to share our own content there. We don't sell anyone's data, we collect very little information directly, and we don't do behavioral advertising.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
If you contact us, subscribe to our newsletter, or appear as a guest on the podcast, we collect what you give us — typically your name, email address, and any context you share for the conversation. We use that information only to communicate with you, fulfill the purpose for which you contacted us, and keep records of guest agreements.
1.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit bubandpop.com, our hosting provider (Ghost) and any analytics tools we run may log standard request data: IP address, user agent, referrer, and pages requested. Subscribers to our newsletter receive emails through Ghost's mail provider, which may track opens and link clicks for the limited purpose of measuring engagement on our own list. Audio podcast hosts (e.g., Spotify for Podcasters / Megaphone / Buzzsprout, depending on episode) and video hosts (YouTube) collect their own analytics under their own policies.
1.3 Cookies and similar technologies
We use a minimal set of cookies for site functionality (e.g., remembering whether you've dismissed a banner) and aggregate analytics. We do not run third-party advertising networks on our site and do not use cookies to build behavioral profiles.
2. Use of social-media platform APIs
We operate scripts and tools that use the public developer APIs of social-media platforms — currently including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter) — to publish our own content (videos, images, text, captions) to accounts we own and operate. As we add platforms over time, this section is intended to apply to those additions as well.
When we use these APIs:
- We authenticate as ourselves (the account owner) using credentials issued by each platform. We do not request, store, or process credentials belonging to any other user.
- We send content (typically a video file or text) and metadata (titles, captions, hashtags, tagged accounts you've explicitly authorized) to the platform for publication on our own account.
- We may temporarily host media files we are about to publish on our own infrastructure (Cloudflare R2, served via media.bubandpop.com) so that platform APIs can fetch them. These files are content we are about to publish publicly anyway.
- We do not read, copy, or analyze data from other users' profiles, posts, comments, direct messages, or analytics. We do not build databases of platform users.
Each platform we use has its own privacy policy that governs what they do with the content once it is published on their service. You can review those policies on the respective platform's website. If a platform's terms or our use of its API change in a way that affects this policy, we will update this section.
3. Information we do not collect or sell
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (and, where applicable, under 16). We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties. We do not share information with advertisers for the purpose of behavioral advertising.
4. How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as it is needed for the purpose described above. Email correspondence is retained for our own reference. Newsletter subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe. Episode recordings, raw and edited, are retained for archival and republishing purposes.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we don't sell or share it for cross-context advertising in any case); or to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. To make a request, email meh@bubandpop.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
6. International transfers
Bub & Pop is operated from the United States. If you contact us from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By contacting us, you consent to that transfer.
7. Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via the website or, where appropriate, by email.
